Immanuel Quickley was out again.
New York’s sixth man missed Wednesday’s game because of his sprained ankle, leaving Tom Thibodeau with a shorthanded bench to tackle an elimination Game 5.
“Day to day,” Thibodeau said about Quickley. “He’s getting better.”
where Bam Adebayo dove for a loose ball and undercut the legs of the Knicks guard.
Before the injury, Quickley was struggling in the playoffs while averaging just nine points and shooting 24% from beyond the arc. The 23-year-old is eligible for a contract extension in the offseason, and his value, if anything, has declined after peaking in March because of a breakthrough regular season.
In 13 career playoff games, Quickley shot just 33.3% overall and 27% from beyond the arc.
Without Quickley , Thibodeau extended starter Jalen Brunson’s minutes and inserted Miles McBride into the rotation for a four-minute cameo.
New York’s bench was outscored by Miami’s in Game 4, 32-10, largely because of Kyle Lowry’s 15 points.
