A head-on crash northwest of Fort Collins on U.S. 287 early Wednesday left a 57-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman dead and closed the highway for more than three hours, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
A 14-year-old boy who was riding with the woman in a Dodge Rambler suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to a hospital, CSP spokesman Trooper Gabriel Moltrer said. The man was driving a Subaru Outback, Moltrer said.
The two vehicles crashed shortly before 6:45 a.m. near mile marker 371 north of Livermore. One lane of U.S. 287 was opened at 10:21 a.m., he said.
The cause of the crash has not been determined. No other information was available.
