Colorado drivers traveling eastbound on Interstate 70 through the high country can expect delays as crews resurface the mountain highway.

The resurfacing project will tackle pavement along a 13-mile stretch of eastbound I-70 between the Eisenhower Tunnel and the Georgetown on-ramp, as well as a half-mile stretch at U.S. 40 — Empire Junction, the Colorado Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Crews will also replace damaged guardrails and replace 200 signs and permanent pavement markings.

Work began Sunday evening and will continue weekly through Friday mornings until winter weather prevents further construction. Lanes will not be closed during weekends or on holidays.
