14 Denver schools with no AC to release students early due to high temperatures

Many DPS locations started new school year with no air conditioning

Several Denver Public Schools with no air conditioning will release students early Tuesday due to near-record temperatures.

A on early releases says 14 schools are releasing early Tuesday.

At least seven of those schools have made announcements on their websites or social media accounts about the times they will release early:

  • Stedman Elementary: Releasing at 1 p.m.
  • Polaris Elementary: Releasing at 12:30 p.m.
  • McMeen Elementary: Releasing at 11:40 a.m.
  • Goldrick Elementary: Releasing at 11:40 a.m.
  • Godsman Elementary: Releasing at 12 p.m.
  • Bryant Webster Dual Language School: Releasing at 12:30 p.m.
  • Cowell Elementary: Releasing at 12 p.m.

Other schools releasing early include:

  • Steele Elementary
  • Robert F. Smith STEAM High School
  • Columbine Elementary
  • Skinner Middle School
  • Cory Elementary
  • Carson Elementary
  • University Park Elementary

More schools may be added to the list of early releases, and a district spokesperson said the webpage will also be updated with any closures called for Wednesday.

Many DPS locations started the school year with no air conditioning. Temperatures are expected Tuesday to reach 96 degrees.
