Colorado high school football: How Post Preps Top 10 teams fared in Week 7

Class 5A

1. Cherry Creek (7-0) won vs. Smoky Hill, 47-0: Sophomore QB Brady Vodicka hooked up with Jadyn Irving and Tyson Mauck for TD passes, and four other Bruins ran in touchdowns by the mid-point of the second quarter to trigger a running clock. Next week: at Eaglecrest, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

2. Pine Creek (7-0) won at No. 8 Regis Jesuit, 21-17: Jonathan Coar booted two field goals and the Eagles marched for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter to escape Regis with their perfect season intact. Next week: at Legend, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

3. Columbine (7-0) won at No. 4 Ralston Valley, 30-14: Josh Snyder and Mason Moreno had two rushing TDs apiece, and Snyder came up with an interception in the fourth quarter as Columbine held Ralston Valley scoreless over the final two quarters to secure the win. Next week: vs. Arvada West, 4 p.m. Oct. 13.

4. Ralston Valley (5-2) lost vs. No. 3 Columbine, 30-14: QB Logan Madden found Jackson Hansen and Wyatt Morwood for TD passes in the first half, the second pulling the Mustangs to within 21-14 late in the second quarter, but that was as close as they would get. Next week: vs. Pomona, 6 p.m. Oct. 12.

5. Arapahoe (6-1) won at No. 6 Grandview, 30-16: QB Michael Moynihan threw three touchdown passes (two to junior receiver Andrew Smart), Carter Nealy added 100 yards and one TD on the ground, and the Warriors defense shut out Grandview in the second half to earn a critical Centennial League victory. Next week: vs. Cherokee Trail, 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

6. Grandview (5-2) lost vs. No. 5 Arapahoe, 30-16: QB Liam Szarka hooked up with Kyler Vaughn and Xavier Neto for a pair of touchdown passes and Kyle Chavez drilled a 25-yard field goal to give Grandview a 16-10 lead with 1:37 left in the second quarter, but the Wolves didn’t score again. Next week: at Smoky Hill, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

7. Chatfield (4-3) won vs. Pomona, 25-0: Days after being forced to forfeit a pair of wins for using an ineligible player, the Chargers rebounded with their second shutout of the season (the first, in Week 1, was wiped off the board). Jake Jones had one TD rushing and another passing to Drew Rohlman in the win. Next week: at Lakewood, 6 p.m. Oct. 12.

8. Regis Jesuit (3-4) lost vs. No. 2 Pine Creek, 21-17: QB Peyton Lindell threw two touchdown passes, with the second finding Albert Medina for a 14-11 lead early in the fourth quarter. A Jack Manthey field goal put Regis ahead a second time after that, 17-14, but Pine Creek answered with a go-ahead touchdown drive that handed the Raiders their fourth loss to a top 10 team this season. Next week: vs. Chaparral, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

9. Mountain Vista (6-1) won at Rock Canyon, 37-14: QB Austyn Modrzewski connected with three different receivers for TDs in the first half, the last one a 21-yard hookup with Sean Conway for a 37-14 lead at the break. Austin Scheich added a pick-6 to push the Golden Eagles to 6-1 for the first time in eight years. Next week: vs. No. 10 Castle View, 4 p.m. Oct. 13.

10. Castle View (6-1) won at ThunderRidge, 49-7: QB Derek Gordon put up 209 yards and four TDs on 14-of-21 passing, Ethan Gonzales ran for 134 yards and two TDs on just seven carries and the Sabercats moved to 6-1 for the first time in 12 years. Next week: at No. 9 Mountain Vista, 4 p.m. Oct. 13.

Class 4A

1. Palmer Ridge (7-0) won vs. No. 9 Pueblo West, 42-7: The Bears defense submitted yet another dominant effort, coming within a Cyclones fourth-quarter touchdown of their third shutout in four games. Next week: at Air Academy, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

2. Erie (6-1) won at Monarch, 45-3: Gavin Lusk ran in a pair of TDs and QB Blake Barnett had three passing TDs and one running as the Tigers claimed their sixth consecutive double-digit victory. Next week: vs. Silver Creek, 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

3. Montrose (5-2) won at Falcon, 56-22: The Red Hawks put 42 on the board by halftime en route to topping 40 for the third time in four games. Next week: vs. Coronado, 6 p.m. Oct. 13.

4. Broomfield (5-2) won vs. Aurora Central, 48-7: The Eagles went up 34-0 by halftime en route to s third straight win, with this one matching their largest margin of victory this season. Next week: at Adams City, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

: Kalin Hufford threw four TD passes, including three in the first quarter, and Luc Chevalier ran in a pair of scores as the Demons rolled to their sixth straight win. Next week: vs. Dakota Ridge, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

6. Thomas Jefferson (7-0) won vs. Far Northeast, 22-21: Far Northeast pushed the Spartans to the brink for the first time this season, taking a 15-14 lead into the fourth quarter, but TJ rallied to start the season 7-0 for just the second time since 2007. Next week: at Liberty, 6 p.m. Oct. 12.

7. Mesa Ridge (5-2) won vs. Coronado, 69-6: The Grizzlies followed up last week’s dramatic win over Pueblo West by topping 60 points for the second time this season. Next week: at Rampart, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

8. Loveland (5-2) won vs. Grand Junction Central, 34-23: Ryder Eastin found Trey Olsen for three touchdown passes and both players had one rushing TD apiece to lead the Red Wolves to a win. Next week: at Skyline, 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

9. Pueblo West (4-3) lost at No. 1 Palmer Ridge, 42-7: The Cyclones lost for the second week in a row, with Rodolfo Gutierrez Gonzales’ touchdown run late in the fourth quarter the only points they could muster against the top-ranked Bears. Next week: vs. Falcon, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

10. Fruita Monument (5-2) won at Grand Junction, 41-6: Amari Wilson had touchdown runs of 5, 5 and 14 yards to power a 21-0 halftime lead and Wyatt Sharpe tacked on two more rushing scores after that in the Wildcats’ third straight win. Next week: at Aurora Central, 6:30 p.m. Oct. 12.

Class 3A

1. Green Mountain (6-0) won at Evergreen, 55-3. Next week: vs. Conifer, 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13.

7. Northfield (5-1) won vs. Kennedy, 62-12. Next week: at No. 4 Holy Family, 7 p.m. Oct. 12.

8. Lewis-Palmer (5-1) won at Harrison, 55-12. Next week: vs. Pueblo South, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.

9. Riverdale Ridge (5-1) won vs. Denver North, 42-20. Next week: vs. Frederick, 6 p.m. Oct. 12.

10. Thompson Valley (4-2) won vs. Severance, 31-6. Next week: at Mountain View, 7 p.m. Oct. 13.
