Both directions of I-25 north of Pueblo have reopened after being shut down since Sunday due to a train derailment and bridge collapse that killed one person.
“The northbound lanes of traffic from Hwy 50 to MM108 were opened this afternoon after work crews completed cleanup and repairs to the road from Sunday’s train derailment near MM107,” the Pueblo County Sheriff said in a tweet.
Southbound lanes of the highway reopened Wednesday.

“There are reduced speeds in both directions in the area of MM107,” the Pueblo County Sheriff tweeted. “Please adhere to the speed limits and follow all traffic instructions in the area.”
A truck driver was killed in the derailment after 30 train cars left the track and spilled both cars and coal across I-25 just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday four miles north of Pueblo, between mile markers 106 and 107. BNSF Railway says its workers inspected that stretch of track within hours of when one of the rails is believed to have broken.
