Suspect turns himself in following New Year’s Day homicide in Commerce City

Police confirmed the victim and the suspect knew each other but were not blood relatives

The Commerce City Police Department is conducting a New Year’s Day homicide investigation at 78th Avenue and Dahlia Street where one person has been found dead, police said Monday morning.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office on Friday, Jan. 5, identified the victim as Joseph Nicholas Ramirez, 24.

Police were looking for 19-year-old Angel Lozano as a person of interest in the homicide. Lozano turned himself in late Monday afternoon.
