A person was struck and early Thursday morning, police officials said.

Denver Police Department officers were called to a crash between a vehicle and pedestrian in the 4700 block of East 50th Avenue just before 5 a.m., the agency said on social media. The pedestrian, who has not been identified, was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.

Investigators found the driver was driving a jockey truck, which is designed to move large trailers, and didn’t see the person walking in the yard. The driver was charged with careless driving resulting in death.

This is a developing story.
