Broncos defensive backs coach Christian Parker is expected to leave Denver to join the Philadelphia Eagles defensive coaching staff, sources told The Denver Post on Monday. ESPN’s Dan Graziano first reported the news.

Parker spent the past three seasons with the Broncos after spending two seasons as a defensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers.

Last month, the 32-year-old coach interviewed for defensive coordinator positions in Green Bay and New England, but both jobs were filled by other candidates.

The Eagles recently hired Vic Fangio to be their new defensive coordinator. Parker worked under Fangio, who was the head coach for the Broncos in 2021, when the team went 7-10.

Before the NFL, Parker worked as a defensive analyst at Notre Dame and Texas A&M. He also served as a defensive backs coach at Virginia State and Norfolk State.

Parker repeatedly received praise from defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Before the start of the 2023 season, Joseph called Parker a “star” and a “great partner to work with.”

“He’s sharp, man,” Joseph said. “He’s smart, he works his butt off and his players love playing for him.”

This past season, Parker saw two of his defensive backs receive All-Pro honors: cornerback Pat Surtain II (NFLPA, Pro Football Writers) and safety Justin Simmons (AP, second team).
