Suspect in December double homicide still on the run; Denver police ask public for help

The man who allegedly shot four and killed two people in a late-December homicide is still on the run, and Denver officers are asking for the public’s help to find him.

Matthew Johnson, 53, is wanted on suspicion of murder and aggravated assault following a deadly shooting that injured two people and killed two others, according to a Wednesday .

Denver officers responded to the 4800 block of West Colfax Avenue, near Xavier and Wolff Streets, around 1:30 a.m. on Dec. 30 and found four victims with gunshot wounds, the release stated.

Paramedics transported the four to a local hospital, where two of the victims later died from their injuries, .

The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner identified the two victims who died as 38-year-old Jason Lewis and 41-year-old Brandon Houston. Their cause of death was gunshot wounds and the manner of death was homicide.
