
The day after three ski resorts closed for the season, leaving Arapahoe Basin and Winter Park as the only lift-served areas still running, A-Basin officials announced on Monday that they will remain open until June — at least.
“While we do not have a closing date to announce yet, we are stoked to be on snow as long as possible,” according to an A-Basin news release. “Once we reach June 1, operations will be assessed on a week-by-week basis, based on weather and conditions. Guests can follow along with real-time updates on our and our .”
A-Basin made it to June the past six seasons, according to spokeswoman Shayna Silverman. In 2019, they made it until July 4. Copper Mountain, Loveland and Breckenridge closed Sunday.
Backcountry skiing remains an option. Over the past 10 days, Loveland Pass and Berthoud Pass received 22 inches of snow, Jones Pass 21, Vail Pass 18, and Cameron Pass 16. The at and above timberline, and moderate below timberline, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
Arapahoe Basin, which typically is the last ski area to close for the season, received 10 inches of snow on Sunday and a foot the previous week. The base depth stands at five and a half feet. Open terrain includes Zuma Bowl, Pali, frontside trails and the East Wall.
“We ask that our visitors stay vigilant,” the A-Basin release said. “With the ever-changing spring conditions, itap important to respect all signage and closures. With warmer weather, things tend to melt out quickly, and sometimes underneath the surface you can’t immediately see. Stay inbounds, be aware, use caution, and enjoy some of the very best parts of late spring at The Basin.”
