Drug Enforcement Administration agents seized more than half a million fake fentanyl pills in one week in Colorado, the agency said in a news release Thursday.
DEA Rocky Mountain Field Division agents and local and state law enforcement seized 570,000 fake fentanyl pills during three operations conducted over seven days in June.
The busts account for 22% of all fentanyl pills seized in Colorado in 2023, according to the DEA. The agency seized a record 2.6 million fake fentanyl pills last year.
Fentanyl was involved in about 70% of in the United States last year, federal officials said Thursday.
Colorado is on track to break the record number of pills seized in 2023, Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Pullen said in a statement.
