Boulder County deputies are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a stabbing that occurred on a trail Wednesday morning.

According to a release, at 7:46 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a report of a stabbing at the Tenderfoot Trail, a Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks trail located west of Boulder, in the 3400 block of Flagstaff Road.

According to the release, the hiker was confronted by another man and stabbed multiple times with a knife, according to the release. The hiker sustained serious bodily injury and was brought to a local hospital to receive medical care.

The hiker did know the suspect as they both frequent the area, according to the release.

According to the release, the suspect then fled up the Tenderfoot Trail to the Realization Point parking lot.

Eight sheriff’s office deputies responded in addition to Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks rangers and after an extensive search of the area, they believe the suspect is no longer in the area.

The suspect is described as a white man who is around six feet tall with gray hair, wearing shorts. The suspect also had a dog with him that was described as possibly a type of terrier that was multi-colored and had trimmed hair.
