Any retail business that opened during the same month that the COVID-19 pandemic began in March 2020 — and then thrived — can be considered a success.

Fox Run Cafe, at 3550 E. Colfax Ave., which opened on March 18, 2020, was “even more of a success” than its owner Lucien Reichert and his team “could have possibly imagined,” the breakfast restaurant posted on Instagram on Thursday.

But Fox Run, which garnered praise from local media since the beginning (including from The Denver Post) will close on Oct. 21. The Instagram post didn’t give a reason why.

Here is the full:

“It is with sadness, love, and gratitude, that I announce the closing of Fox Run. After almost 5 years of serving this incredible community, the time has come to bring this chapter to a close.

“This decision was not made lightly, and itap difficult to put into words the deep gratitude we feel for each and every one of you who has supported us along the way. We set out to create a beloved restaurant, to take care of our employees and guests, and to learn and grow as much as possible through running this business. With those goals in mind, and more than a few ups and downs along the way, Fox Run was more of a success than we could have possibly imagined.

“There will be more details, gratitude, and love to come. Until then, October 21st will be our final day of service. Please come celebrate with us in our last month. As always, we will be looking forward to taking care of you.”
