A pedestrian was killed Saturday in a fatal crash on Colorado 470 that shut down the highway for several hours, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
State Patrol troopers responded to the crash near C-470’s junction with U.S. 6 around 6:36 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Department of Public Safety.
The westbound highway was then shut down at U.S. 6 around 6:45 a.m. and reopened more than three hours later at 10:08 a.m., .
The pedestrian — an unidentified 52-year-old woman from Arizona — was crossing C-470 when she was hit by a Chevrolet Suburban SUV, troopers said in the release. She will be identified at a later date by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office.
State Patrol officials said the SUV driver stayed on scene and was cooperating with law enforcement.
