Driver killed in I-25 fuel truck crash in Colorado Springs identified

Investigators believe Michael J. Lose was speeding when he rear-ended a fuel truck near exit 139

El Paso County officials identified the 26-year-old driver who died after in Colorado Springs in October.

Investigators believe Michael J. Lose was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic when he rear-ended a fuel truck merging onto I-25 near exit 139, Colorado Springs Police Department officials said Thursday.

Lose died at the scene and a passenger was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The truck driver was not injured.

The crash closed southbound I-25 for several hours.

Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash, police officials said.
