Clear Creek County power outages to extend through Thursday afternoon, sheriff says

All of Clear Creek County is without power Thursday and the outages are expected to last into the afternoon, the sheriff’s office said.

As of 9:30 a.m., 2,175 customers were still without power, down from 5,400. showed five outages were affecting customers.

Power was originally expected to be restored to the entire county by 10 a.m. Thursday, but that deadline , sheriff’s officials said.

The early morning outages, which started around 3 a.m., impacted all homes, businesses, schools and government offices, . Each building is one “customer” on the outage map.

Sheriff’s officials said people should expect delays and closures in the outage areas, including Idaho Springs, Evergreen, Silver Plume, Golden, Black Hawk, Russell Gulch, Empire, Dumont, Lawson, Georgetown and Central City.

All government offices in the county are closed Thursday and the cause of the power outages remains unknown, according to the Clear Creek Sheriff’s Office.
