The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has confirmed that Kent Dannen, 78, was the two days after he was reported missing.

A family member requested a welfare check for Dannen on Jan. 21. The family member “had not heard from him since Jan. 16, which was unusual,” according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office release.

Deputies went to Dannen’s home on Big Owl Road and determined he was not home. However, it appeared that he had left the house on foot, according to the release. Investigators began an initial search of the surrounding property but were unable to find him.

Search efforts continued on Jan. 22 and searchers sent a text alert notification to residents in the surrounding area, according to the release. More search-and-rescue personnel continued the search Thursday morning, and Dannen was found dead.

The Boulder County Coroner’s Office has not released the cause and manner of Dannen’s death.
