Columbine High School evacuated after woodshop fire

Two firefighters had minor injuries, officials said

A fire in a woodshop classroom at on Wednesday forced students to evacuate and canceled classes for the day after flames extended into the ventilation system, South Metro Fire Rescue officials said.

Two firefighters had minor injuries after a fire in the classroom’s exterior wood dust collector turned into a flash fire, .

The fire was reported at 10:47 a.m. and was under control as of 11:13 a.m.

from the school and several were evaluated for unspecified medical needs. The school was closed for the rest of the day.

Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire.
