The northbound lanes of Interstate 25 are closed at Founders Parkway in Castle Rock because of a vehicle fire.

South Metro Fire Rescue posted on social media at about 5:45 a.m. that they were putting out a fire in a commercial vehicle just south of Happy Canyon Road.

At 6:20 a.m., they posted that the fire was out and firefighters were working to stabilize the vehicle’s trailer on the side of the highway so that they could safely reopen lanes.

“Our goal is to get traffic moving as soon as it is safe to do so. Please continue to use caution in the area, consider alternate routes, and expect significant delays until the scene is cleared,” the update said.

Public information officer Brian Willie said no one was injured. Firefighters aren’t sure what the vehicle was carrying or why it ignited, he said.

As of 6:30 a.m., the showed the highway remained closed, with no estimated time for reopening.
