A woman turned herself in Thursday in a crash that killed a pedestrian at the intersection of Lone Tree Parkway and Lincoln Avenue last month.
Police say Samantha Rudy, 32, of Highlands Ranch was driving eastbound on Lincoln Avenue on Feb. 26 when she hit the 77-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing a marked sidewalk on the west side of the intersection. Officials confirmed Rudy stayed on scene.
Life-saving measures were attempted on the pedestrian at the scene before she was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, according to the release. Lincoln Avenue was closed temporarily because of the accident.
Rudy turned herself in and was arrested March 6. She faces charges of careless driving resulting in death and careless driving causing serious bodily injury to a vulnerable road user, Lone Tree police said in a statement.
