Colorado road conditions: I-70, U.S. 40 reopen after high winds across Eastern Plains

Highways throughout Colorado’s Eastern Plains reopened Wednesday evening after multiple closures for strong, damaging winds earlier in the day, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

All road closures on Interstate 70, U.S. 40, U.S. 24, U.S. 385, U.S. 287, Colorado 59, Colorado 71 and Colorado 83 were lifted as of 5:25 p.m., according to CDOT.

A is still active for the northeast corner of the state, including Elbert, Logan, Phillips, Lincoln, Sedgwick, Kit Carson, Cheyenne, Yuma, Weld and Washington counties.

High-profile vehicles like tractor-trailers and RVs should use caution, state officials said.
