Two people were arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder Thursday after Denver police say they shot into a vehicle in Green Valley Ranch, killing the driver and injuring a passenger and two children when the vehicle crashed and rolled.

Ashley Stone, 38, and David Bland, 39, are suspected of following the victims’ car and shooting at it after Stone got into a fight with a woman who was a passenger in the car, according to the

Officers initially responded to a single-vehicle crash near East 38th Avenue and North Odessa Street at around 3:42 p.m. Wednesday and later determined the man driving the car had been shot before the crash.

He died at the scene, and a woman and two children in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Investigators believe Stone and Bland knew the victims, Denver police said in a news release.

The man who was killed will be identified by the , and the Denver District Attorney’s Office will determine final charges in the case.

Stone and Bland are both in custody at the . Their next court appearances were not available Thursday night.
