
A 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after a Sunday double shooting outside an Aurora bar left one man dead and sent another to the hospital, police said.
Brandon Sutton is accused of shooting two men in a parking lot outside the Oasis Bar and Grill at 15064 East Mississippi Ave. at about 2:15 a.m. Sunday, according to his arrest affidavit.
Aurora dispatchers got numerous calls from patrons in the bar reporting a shooting in the parking lot outside starting at 2:17 a.m., police said in the affidavit.
Paramedics took both men to the hospital, where one man, identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office as 26-year-old Ra’jon Darquell Joseph, died from his injuries at 2:50 a.m. Sunday.
The second man is expected to survive, .
Joseph and the other man had been at the bar earlier that evening and returned when they got a call from another friend at the bar asking them to return his keys, according to the arrest affidavit.
When the two arrived and got out of their car, a man approached them and shot at them, the affidavit states.
Multiple bystanders identified the man to police as Sutton.
Police said Joseph was shot five times in the chest and back. His friend was shot in the leg.
Investigators recovered 19 bullet casings from the parking lot, according to the arrest affidavit.
Sutton has not yet been charged in Arapahoe County District Court and is scheduled to appear for a filing of charges hearing on Thursday.
