A U.S. marshal charged with sexual assault involving a juvenile in Aurora has died, the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed Monday.
Shawn Alexander Larson, 36, was arrested May 10 on suspicion of sexual assault that police say happened in September.
Larson was released on bail but failed to appear in court Wednesday, which his obituary lists as the day he died. The cause and manner of his death were not immediately available, though his obituary states that his death was unexpected.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office does not have any cases with Larson’s name, nor does the Niagara County, New York coroner, where Larson’s obituary was published. The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office did not respond to a request for comment, and the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the open case.
