A man who was shot at an Aurora apartment complex late at night on the Fourth of July has died, police said this week.

The Aurora Police Department issued a press release Tuesday saying the 24-year-old man “died overnight in the hospital from his injuries.” The Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office will identify him in the coming days.

No arrests have been made in the shooting at an apartment complex in the 300 block of South Ironton Street. The incident is being investigated by Aurora’s Major Crime Homicide Unit.

Police responded to the shooting shortly after 11 p.m. Friday. Residents in the apartment complex reported hearing shots fired and an injured man was found in the parking lot. It’s not clear what led up to the shooting and there is no suspect information yet.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.
