A Douglas County jury convicted a former athletic trainer of sexually assaulting two teenagers at the gym he owned in Parker.

Aaron Thomas Carrado, a 51-year-old Sedalia man, was convicted of 12 counts, including six for sexual assault on a child by someone in a “position of trust.” His sentencing will be Nov. 13, and he faces  eight years to life in prison for the assaults.

The assaults took place from 2019 to 2022, with some at Strength in Christ Athletes in Parker and others happening elsewhere, according to the district attorney’s office.

The victims were 15 and 16 at the time. Carrado’s ex-wife alerted authorities after discovering social media messages he had sent the teens. He fled to Montana during the investigation but was arrested in late 2022.
