Man arrested in Berthoud after woman’s remains were found in an Oregon storage unit

The person of interest, Richard Robinson, was arrested on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender

A man who was identified as a person of interest after human remains were found in a storage unit in The Dalles, Oregon, was arrested Monday in Berthoud on a separate warrant.

The Dalles Police Department responded to the storage unit on July 29 after a caller reported a suspicious circumstance, according to a department . The man, Richard Robinson, was arrested by the United States Marshall’s Service in Berthoud on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender, according to Larimer County Jail records.

The Mid-Columbia Major Crimes Team also responded to the call and the human remains were later identified as Mid-Columbia woman Meihong He, the press release stated.

“Since the discovery of the remains, detectives have been working collaboratively on leads and following up on tips,” the press release stated. “A person of interest was developed and follow-up investigation was completed in California, Washington, Utah, Nevada and Colorado.”

Robinson, 59, is being held in Larimer County Jail until he is extradited to Oregon, the press release stated.
