The Broncos brought in a fan favorite to help curate the menu for what they hope will be an equally popular food destination at Empower Field at Mile High.
The Atwater Grill, named in honor of Hall of Fame safety Steve Atwater, features a selection of burgers accompanied by spicy curly fries and crispy onion rings at a stand near Section 100.
The specialty burgers include the Assassin Burger with jalapeños and bacon jam; the Breakfast of Champions Burger with a fried egg and hash browns; and the Hit Burger with onion rings, jalapeños and barbecue sauce.
“This has been in the works for, man, six to eight months or so,” Atwater said at a media tour on Tuesday to unveil the new offerings. “They first brought it to me as an idea, and we worked on it together. We were able to come up with a great menu and great designs. And the food tastes amazing. I truly love burgers.”

It’s not surprising that Atwater, known as “The Smiling Assassin,” said his personal favorite is the Assassin Burger.
“It has some jalapeños on it and a little bit of kick. But not too much kick, because I can’t eat it too spicy. So, just the perfect amount of kick to it. It has some bacon jam. Just a great burger.”
If burgers aren’t what you are craving, there are plenty of other new options to try at Empower Field.
The Bagel Deli (Sections 306, 335, 372 and 525), a perennial Denver favorite, is serving up classic deli sandwiches, including an Empower Field exclusive, the Mile High Madness sandwich, piled high with corned beef and pastrami.
Birdcall (Section 110), with locations in Boulder and Denver, is bringing its authentic, fresh Nashville hot chicken sandwich to Game Day.
And Cholon Restaurant Concepts (Section 103) has some tasty Wagyu beef meatballs with red sauce and whipped ricotta.
Other new menu items around the stadium include pulled pork mac and cheese, poke bowls, lobster rolls and a limited-edition jackalope hoagie made with an antelope and rabbit sausage.
It might take fans a few games to try all the new offerings and decide on their favorite.
