Denver FC’s roster has gone global.

The club announced its first international acquisition on Thursday, signing Spanish forward Nahikari García to a two-year contract for 2026 and ’27.

García, 28, most recently played for Athletic Club Femenino. She’s also played for Real Madrid Femenino and prior to that spent eight years with Real Sociedad Femenino. She became that club’s all-time leading scorer and was a star on the Copa de la Reina championship team in 2019.

García played for Spain in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was also a past nominee for the Liga F forward of the season.

“Nahikari is a world-class talent and a fantastic addition to our club,” Denver Summit FC general manager Curt Johnson said in a statement. “Her experience across top European leagues, her leadership on and off the field, and her track record of scoring in big moments make her a foundational piece of the team we’re building in Denver.”

García will spend the rest of the 2025 season on loan to Nottingham Forest ahead of Denver FC’s inaugural season in the NWSL next year. As Johnson builds the roster, Denver FC has also signed forward Ally Watt, a Coloradan, and acquired midfielder and Las Vegas native Lourdes Bosch from Melbourne City in exchange for a transfer fee.
