Denver driver dies after rear-ending RTD bus on westbound I-70

One person died Monday morning in Denver after rear-ending a Regional Transportation District bus on Interstate 70, shutting down the westbound highway for hours.

Denver officers responded to the two-vehicle crash on westbound I-70 near Holly Street at about 6:20 a.m. Monday, according to the .

An unidentified driver struck the back of an RTD bus and died, police said. The driver was the only person in the car.

The bus driver, who was the only person in the RTD vehicle, was not injured in the crash, police said. No other injuries were reported.

Westbound I-70 reopened at about 9 a.m. Monday between exit 279B for Central Park Boulevard and exit 277 for Dahlia Street in Denver’s northeast Park Hill neighborhood, .

The driver killed in the crash will be identified by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner at a later date.
