The queen didn’t last as long as the king.

La Reyna Azteca & Breakfast has closed at 300 W. Mississippi Ave. in Denver, according to an employee at the restaurantap location in the Hampden neighborhood.

The restaurant, whose name is Spanish for Aztec Queen, opened at the former home of longtime diner Breakfast King in mid-2024.

The employee declined to answer additional questions regarding why or when the all-day breakfast spot on Mississippi Avenue at Santa Fe Drive shuttered. La Reyna Azteca still has the Hampden outpost as well as two locations in Aurora.

Breakfast King occupied the building’s 2,700 square feet from 1975 to 2022. La Reyna owner Josefa Trujillo Castillo signed a lease for the space in July 2024.
