Summit High School construction teacher Oakley Van Oss’s class has built another tiny home, and this time itap sticking around Summit for a while.
On Wednesday, Dec. 17, the second tiny home built by the class was hauled to its new home, the Runway Neighborhood project in Breckenridge on Airport Road.
The tiny home was built through the Summit County Builders Association’s Careers in Construction program at Summit High School during the 2024-25 school year. Around 14 local businesses lent their expertise and services for the project, and eight sponsored the project. The town of Breckenridge volunteered during the construction portion of the project, and the town of Frisco offered up a truck and tow to help bring the structure to its new home.
The Runway Neighborhood is a workforce housing neighborhood slated to deliver at least 81 units, some of which are reserved for Summit School District employees to purchase. Architects Tim Sabo and Suzanne Allen of Allen-Guerra Architecture purchased the tiny home to serve as a field office for the Runway Neighborhood project.
