Two people were killed after a house exploded in rural Pueblo County on Thursday, according to sheriff’s officials.

The explosion happened Thursday afternoon at a home near 57th Lane and Cherry Road, south of Boone, which is about 20 miles east of Pueblo along the Arkansas River, according to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office.

A man and woman were in the home when the explosion happened, and by the time emergency crews arrived, the home was fully engulfed in flames, the sheriff’s office said in a news release Friday.

Search crews found one of the bodies Thursday and the second Friday morning. Their names will be released by the Pueblo County Coroner’s Office.

Preliminary information shows the explosion was accidental, but the case is still being investigated by the sheriff’s office and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, according to sheriff’s officials.
