The legacy home of Aspen icon Leonard “Boogie” Weinglass, known as Merry-Go Ranch on McLain Flats, sold for $42,000,000 last Monday, Jan. 5, after years of going on and off the market.

The 21.38-acre property, 1650 McLain Flats Road, had been listed with Sotheby’s International Realty’s Soffia Wardy for just under a year when it sold. According to Wardy, who represented Weinglass, there were multiple brokers and offers over the years before the sale finally closed.

“The most important part of this sale is the seller and what the property meant to him,” Wardy told The Aspen Times. “Itap one of the most iconic properties in all of Aspen … Although the right buyer was essential, interest was never the issue. The sale ultimately hinged on the seller’s readiness and a clear decision about when — and how — the ranch should transition.”

Wardy confirmed the property had been in Weinglass’ family for over 40 years and housed three generations.
