Arapahoe County authorities on Monday released the name of the 5-year-old boy killed last week, just days after prosecutors charged the boy’s 11-year-old brother in connection with the death.

The county coroner identified the boy as Elias Reliford, a kindergartner at Timberline Elementary in Centennial. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The older brother, whose name has not been divulged, was arrested and faces one charge of first-degree murder, a felony, and an aggravated juvenile offender sentence enhancer, according to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Authorities have not said how the killing unfolded, and the coroner did not specify the cause of death when releasing the boy’s identity.

Deputies responded to the death at the family’s Centennial home, in the 5200 block of South Jericho Way, at about 5:30 p.m. on March 10. Elias was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
