Aurora police are searching for two people who ran from the scene of a fatal rollover crash on Interstate 225 over the weekend, officials said.

The rides-hail driver of a Toyota Corolla was headed north on I-225 near East Iliff Avenue with two passengers in the backseat about 2:15 a.m. Saturday, according to a news release from the Aurora Police Department. A minute later, the driver rear-ended a Chevy Silverado.

The crash forced the Toyota to roll, and it slid to a stop on the highway shoulder, police said in the release. Speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, police said.

One of the ride-hail passengers, a man who will be identified by the Arapahoe County coroner’s office, died, police said. Paramedics took the driver and the second passenger to a hospital with serious injuries.

Both people inside the Chevy left the car and ran from the crash scene, police said in the release.

Anyone with information on the crash, including the identities of the two people who left the scene, is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
