Three more now-former Buffs are heading out the transfer portal door.
Colorado men’s basketball guard Felix Kossaras has decided to leave the CU program, as reported on Tuesday morning by On3 sports. The move hardly was unexpected, as Kossaras went from being an early-season starter to a little-used backup during the course of the 2025-26 season.
Reserve forward Alon Michaeli and backup wing Andrew Crawford also have opted to leave the program.
A 6-foot-6 guard out of Montreal, Kossaras started the first 17 games of the season and played in 28 of 33 games overall. Kossaras enjoyed a solid start to the season, shooting .628 overall (27-for-43) with a .524 mark on 3-pointers (11-for-21) through the first nine games before experiencing a slow fade.
Head coach Tad Boyle touted Kossaras’ defensive ability early in the season. Yet as the Buffs struggled on defense throughout the campaign, Kossaras’ playing time gradually dwindled. After scoring just four points in the final two nonconference games, and then 11 in the first four Big 12 games, Kossaras lost his place in the starting lineup and soon lost his spot in the rotation behind freshmen wings Jalin Holland, Josiah Sanders and, later, Ian Inman. Kossaras didn’t play in five of the final eight regular season games.
Kossaras scored a career-high 17 points against UC Davis in Nov. 21, and he put together a solid effort for the shorthanded Buffs in a season-ending loss last week against Oklahoma, going 3-for-6 from the floor and 6-for-6 at the free throw line with 14 points.
Kossaras averaged 4.6 points this season and 2.0 in 29 appearances last year as a freshman.
Michaeli put together an impressive start to his collegiate career, scoring what proved to be a season-high 20 points in his second game while recording double-figure points in seven of his first eight games. However, the 6-foot-9 Michaeli struggled against the more physical front lines in the Big 12 Conference, averaging 4.6 in 19 games against league foes (including the conference tournament). Overall, Michaeli played in 31 games off the bench, averaging 7.1 points and 3.9 rebounds.
While Michaeli will enter the portal, Boyle said Michaeli might opt to return to his native Israel to resume a pro career. Like Kossaras, Michaeli turned in a strong performance in the finale last week against Oklahoma, going 5-for-10 from the floor and 8-for-8 at the free throw line with 18 points.
Crawford, a native of Littleton who starred at ThunderRidge High School, didn’t crack the rotation out of the preseason and played sparingly, averaging 4.7 minutes and 1.4 points in 10 games off the bench. Crawford redshirted last year and still has three years of eligibility.
“I knew there was another round coming, and thatap where we’re at,” Boyle said. “Nothing surprising, nothing we didn’t anticipate or plan for. Itap just now we’ve got a roster to put together, and the good thing is we’re well on our way.”
