Police are investigating a Monday night crash in south Aurora that killed an unidentified motorcyclist, according to the department.

Aurora officers and firefighters responded to a crash near the intersection of East Hampden Avenue and South Espana Way at 8:43 p.m. Monday, according to a news release from the police department.

Several callers told dispatchers that a motorcycle and a vehicle collided, throwing the motorcyclist from the bike and into the roadway, police said. The motorcyclist, a man, died at the scene of the crash and will be identified by the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

The other driver is cooperating with the investigation, according to the release. Police did not specify whether drugs, alcohol or speed are suspected to be factors in the crash and whether any charges are under investigation.

Westbound Havana was closed overnight between South Genoa and South Ceylon streets for the crash investigation.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
