The driver accused of killing two people and injuring two others in a high-speed Aurora crash last summer took a deal this week and pleaded guilty to assault, Arapahoe County court records show.

Olvin Carcamo-Meza, 19, pleaded guilty during a Tuesday afternoon disposition hearing to two counts of first-degree assault, a felony, and two violent crime sentence enhancers, according to Arapahoe County court records.

The plea deal dismissed three felony charges from Carcamo-Meza’s case, including one count of child abuse causing death and two counts of vehicular homicide by reckless driving, court records show. It also dropped one count of reckless driving, a traffic-level offense.

Carcamo-Meza was driving at an average of 121 mph on Airport Boulevard shortly before he ran a red light and crashed into a white Hyundai sedan at East Alameda Parkway, killing both people inside, according to his arrest affidavit. The July 2025 crash sent both cars spinning into a third vehicle, injuring that driver and Carcamo-Meza’s passenger, .

The 19-year-old will next appear in court for a sentencing hearing on June 1, court records show. The plea deal vacated a jury trial set to start in late July.

Each assault charge carries a minimum sentence of 10 years and a maximum of 32 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, 18th Judicial District Attorney spokesperson Eric Ross said.

As part of the plea deal, the District Attorney’s Office is asking for a sentence of 15 to 20 years for each count Carcamo-Meza pleaded guilty to — a total of 30 to 40 years in prison followed by mandatory parole, Ross said.
