I-25 reopens after wrong-way crash south of Denver

A man from Cheyenne, Wyoming was seriously injured, state patrol said

A Wyoming man was seriously injured in a crash after he drove the wrong way on southbound Interstate 25 in Douglas County early Wednesday morning, hitting an oncoming sedan, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

State patrol troopers responded to the crash on southbound I-25 in Castle Rock, near Plum Creek Parkway, at 5:12 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from the agency.

A 56-year-old man from Cheyenne, Wyoming was driving a Chevrolet Silverado north in the southbound left lane when he hit the center concrete barrier and then crashed head-on into an oncoming into a silver ToyotaCamry that was in the southbound right lane, state patrol officials said in the release.

The Silverado driver was taken to the hospital, and the Camry driver, a 36-year-old Aurora man, was not injured.

Southbound I-25 was closed until just before 7 a.m. because of the crash, state officials said.

The crash is under investigation and it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were factors, according to the state patrol.
