Thunderstorms could bring 2-inch hail and 60 mph winds to parts of Colorado’s eastern plains Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Severe storms are forecast across the eastern plains between 3 and 9 p.m., weather officials . Rural areas of the plains could see ping-pong ball-sized hail, torrential rainfall with localized flooding, and strong winds, the weather service said.
The greatest chance for severe weather is north of Pueblo, according to a NWS in place for parts of southern and eastern Colorado.
Residents and those planning to spend time outdoors should be ready to take action and have ways to receive multiple warnings, the weather service said.
The Interstate 25 corridor could see isolated storms between 1 and 5 p.m., though those are expected to be less severe. In Denver, there is a 50% chance of thunderstorms after 1 p.m. with wind gusts of up to 15 mph, .
