Thunderstorms moving across the Front Range delayed hundreds of flights and sparked a ground stop at Denver International Airport on Friday afternoon, federal officials said.
The ordered the ground stop, which holds flights headed for Denver at their departing airports, as of 4 p.m. because of the storms, officials said in an alert.
Federal officials lifted the ground stop Friday evening and also lifted a ground delay that caused flight delays averaging 30 minutes.
Airlines at DIA reported 828and 10 cancellations as of 7:20 p.m., according to FlightAware, including 287 delays on United Airlines, 236 on Southwest and 181 on SkyWest.
