A Colorado Native, John Leyba began his career at The Denver Post in 1984, just out of high school. He has primarily photographed sports for the news organization, including Super Bowls, the Stanley Cup championships, World Series, summer and winter Olympics. He was a part of the Pulitzer Prize winning staff awarded for its coverage of the 2012 Aurora theater shooting.
