Former University of Colorado assistant Jen Warden, the head women’s basketball coach at Boise State, is one of two finalists for the Colorado State University job.

CSU athletic director Mark Driscoll on Monday announced that Warden and former Northern Arizona coach Meg Sanders, the associate head coach at Arizona State, are scheduled to visit campus this week for a series of interviews with administrators and to meet the players.

The former Jen Tubergen, an all-state basketball player at Denver Christian High School in 1989, Warden was expected to arrive Monday night. Sanders will visit Thursday.

Both coaches had preliminary interviews with Driscoll last week, as did Utah State coach Raegan Scott-Pebley, a former CSU assistant who played for CU, and Kamie Ethridge, a longtime Kansas State assistant.

Warden just completed her third season at Boise State, where she has compiled a 28-59 record. She helped facilitate the program’s move from the Big West to the Western Athletic Conference in 2001. Sanders is 107-92 in seven seasons at Northern Arizona. Both coaches are reputed to be exceptional recruiters.

Warden, who withdrew her name from consideration for the CU job in March, said Monday: “This feels like a real good fit for me and my family. I’m real interested. I think it’s a great situation. It’s always nice to be back home in Colorado.”

CU’s job was filled last week by former Tulsa coach Kathy McConnell-Miller.

The new coach at CSU will replace Chris Denker, who resigned last month.

Oklahoma to wait on hire

The University of Oklahoma will wait until after the season to begin its search for a replacement for baseball coach Larry Cochell, who resigned after using a racial slur while praising a black player. Sunny Golloway, an assistant under Cochell, will serve as interim head coach.

Badgers back suspended

Wisconsin tailback Booker Stanley was suspended from the football team after his arrest at a weekend street party. He was charged with battery, disorderly conduct and resisting or obstructing an officer during the party Saturday near the campus, city police said.
