Liz Smith has been known to dish as New York City’s premier gossip columnist, but in her new book, “Dishing,” she gives plenty of observations on food. Smith includes recipes for a deep-fried Snickers bar, in honor of Elvis Presley, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Smith also notes that during the stormy relationship between Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton the couple’s main focus was less about sex and more on their next meal.
Stacey Edgar of Denver was one of two women honored by Organic Style magazine at its “Women With Organic Style” dinner April 20 in New York.
Edgar is the founder and president of Global Girlfriend, a fair-trade boutique that sells clothing, fashion accessories and food products that benefit groups like the Women’s Bean Project of Denver.
Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten told Absolute mag he has to get coffee every morning.
“The thing is, I don’t want to pay $25 to a parking garage or park in front of a fire hydrant, so I double-park. Which means tickets. … Which is why I think New York needs drive-throughs.”
Julianna Margulies recalls waitressing for Julia Roberts and other celebs at 150 Wooster restaurant in New York. “My best tipper by far was (filmmaker) Joel Schumacher,” Margulies told the New York Daily News.
