What we’d like to see: A TV show about survivors who don’t make it. Their bodies wash up years later. Don’t tell Hollywood producers; the way “reality” TV is going, they’ll steal my idea.
Instead, we have the last man (or woman) standing on “Survivor: Paulau,” struggling into the final episode on KCNC-Channel 4 (7 p.m. Sunday).
Who will be the $1 million winner? Sunday’s episode pares the final four to the ultimate survivor and is followed by a “reunion” where all 20 of the contestants come together to talk about their experiences in a two-part, three-hour finale.
Other weekend highlights:
Friday
“Dateline NBC” takes another look, through the eyes of jurors, at the death of Las Vegas casino mogul Ted Binion and his $8 million buried treasure, which made for a riveting trial in 2004 (7 p.m., KUSA-Channel 9).
Saturday
When we finally meet our neighbors in other worlds, will they be “little green men”? Probably not is the fascinating premise of “Alien Planet,” a virtual journey to the fictional Darwin IV (6 p.m., Discovery).
Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon dress up but they’re no hotter than Marilyn Monroe in the 1959 movie classic “Some Like It Hot” (8 p.m., Channel 6).
Sunday
Can she be a winner? Lois (Jane Kaczmarek) enters a beauty pageant in the season finale of “Malcolm in the Middle” (6:30 p.m., KDVR-Channel 31).
Bree (Marcia Cross) comes to a realization about her “buddy,” George the pharmacist (Roger Bart), and Lynette (Felicity Huffman) is on guard over her husband and his assistant in the “Goodbye for Now” episode of “Desperate Housewives” (8 p.m., KMGH-Channel 7).
There’s always something new with ol’ King Tut. Among the moments in “Final Secrets” is a 3-D scan of what the boy probably looked like (7 p.m., National Geographic Channel, Comcast digital channel 273).
