David Pinigis, a senior at Littleton High School, will become an Eagle Scout later this week. He has been a scout since he was 7.

David has volunteered on numerous community-service projects through the Boy Scouts, including helping to build a 400-foot fence at the Littleton Historical Society in the style in which it would have been constructed more than 100 years ago.

He volunteered for three years on the Easy Does It Ranch in Westcliffe, doing everything from mucking stalls to feeding horses and assisting in vaccinations.

He also has assisted in the animal-recovery room of a veterinary office after surgeries.

For his Eagle Scout project, David designed and created a large mural at the MaxFund, a no-kill animal shelter in Denver.

David has a 3.2 grade-point average. He has taken physics, trigonometry, French 2 and advanced algebra. David was on the Littleton High School cross-country team for two years.

His Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony will be held Friday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Littleton.

Each week, The Denver Post honors an outstanding youth for his or her accomplishments. King Soopers presents each honoree with a packet including a gift certificate, a letter of commendation and an application for employment. To nominate a student, write to The Denver Post DTW, 1560 Broadway, Denver, CO 80202. Enclose information about the nominee, a photograph and the name and phone number of someone we can contact for more information. Please write “Top Kid” on the envelope.
