Olivier Martinez has proposed to his girlfriend, singer Kylie Minogue, who is fighting breast cancer, according to the Daily Mail in Britain.

Martinez, best known as the “other man” in “Unfaithful,” has dated Minogue, who said “yes” to the proposal, for two years. His cousin, Stephane Martinez, told the Mail, “Kylie’s illness has made Olivier realize there is more to life than a glitzy show-business career.” Minogue had a lump removed from her breast a week ago in a Melbourne, Australia, hospital.

E! Online quickly dropped its story from its website that “confirmed” Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey had filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court.

After the couple’s reps called the report “absolutely not true,” E! suddenly axed its story. Several reports claim the couple threatened to sue E! Online.

Star magazine reported Britney Spears gave away one of her Chihuahuas because the dog kept biting husband Kevin Federline. Spears’ spokeswoman told MSNBC.com: “The truth is that Britney’s dog Lucky is living with an assistant until the house is finished.”

Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, denies he has been booted as his daughter’s manager. In Touch Weekly is expected to report the singer’s boyfriend, rap mogul Jay-Z, has been guiding many of her business decisions lately.

Madonna’s new CD will be called “Defying Gravity,” the Sun in London reported. Madonna has completed eight tracks for the album scheduled for a January release.

Stuff magazine uncovered what members of celebrity entourages actually do:

Mariah Carey “employs a petite Colombian” whose duties include keeping her “long skirts from touching the floor and humping around a Louis Vuitton backpack filled with bottled water,” the magazine reported.

Ja Rule keeps a comedian around to tell him jokes. And another rapper, Ludacris, has an assistant who keeps his Game Boy loaded with fresh batteries.

Celebrity life is rough!

Gwyneth Paltrow has won an Oscar, but she still doesn’t think much of her acting ability.

“It just makes me freak out and think how terrible I am and how awful my voice sounds,” Paltrow said at “The Art of Screen Acting” event, the Financial Times reported. “I remember doing ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley,’ and (Matt Damon) was so good in that film that it made me wish I didn’t repulse myself so much, because maybe I could be learning what he’s learning.”

This time Ken Jennings will ask the questions too.

The all-time “Jeopardy!” champion will host a game show on Comedy Central, targeted for a launch early next year. The 30-minute trivia-based program will include Jennings as a contestant and co-host, a network official told Knight Ridder newspapers.

The other co-host, most likely a comedian, will add the funny parts. At least that’s what we hope.
