Fort Carson – An Army sergeant based at Fort Carson was killed when an unknown device exploded near his tent in Iraq, the Defense Department said today.

Sgt. Charles T. Wilkerson, 30, of Kansas City, Mo., died Sunday in Baghdad, the Army reported. He was assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment.

Wilkerson was one of three Fort Carson-based soldiers who have been killed in the past week in Iraq.

Sgt. Antwan L. Walker, 22, of Tampa, Fla., died May 18 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when enemy forces attacked his camp, military officials said. He was assigned to the 2nd Forward Support Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, at Fort Carson.

Army Spc. Joshua T. Brazee, 25, of Sand Creek died Monday in Al Qaim, Iraq. He was assigned to 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Carson. Details of his death were unknown.
